Our Church Can Be Your Home

pgh_street_sign.jpg Welcome to the Pittsburgh District
Church of the Nazarene

We are a district with a one hundred year old past and a missional future. The 91 active congregations, ReStart churches and NewStart church plants are reaching out to over 100,000 people every week in Western Pennsylvania. Whether you live in one of our cities, our numerous small towns or in the rural countryside, we probably have a congregation of people near you...a congregation that will welcome you, love you, help you connect with God and offer you the opportunity to serve Him.

We hope you find everything you need as you visit our website. Perhaps you, too, will find out that "Our Church Can Be Your Home."

Missional Church Seminar
The Missional Leader: Equipping Your Church to Reach a Changing World
Speaker: Alan Roxburgh
March 23, 2010
Time: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (Registration 9 a.m.)
Location: Mount Vernon Nazarene College (Free Enterprise Business Center)

Missional churches are not about a particular program or isolated projects (such as mission trips or youth ministry). At the very heart of a missional church is a gathering of people who are concerned with the bigger purpose of bringing God's word into the larger community outside their walls. In The Missional Leader, Alan J. Roxburgh gives church and denominational leaders, pastors, and clergy a clear model for leading the change necessary to create and foster a missional church focused outward to spread the message of the Gospel into the surrounding community. The Missional Leader emphasizes principles rather than institutional forms, shows how to move away from "church as usual," and demonstrates what capacities, environments, and mindsets are required to lead a missional church.

To register, call 1-888-470-0050. Registration deadline is March 16, 2010. For more information, contact Rev. Chris Easton, pastor of Butler First Church of the Nazarene at

Rental Home Available for Retired Minister/Missionary

dsc_0834-small.jpg

Recently, as a result of the homegoing of Mrs. Marion Acton and the generosity of her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Bob Bollinger, the home where Marion lived in Nazarene Village became available for rent. Our desire, in keeping with the wishes of Mrs. Acton and the Bollingers, is to rent the home, if possible, to a retired Nazarene minister or missionary or the surviving spouse of a Nazarene minister or missionary. This offer is available for a limited time, after which the home may be rented to another qualified and approved person.

If you are interested in renting this home in Nazarene Village, a retirement community situated on the grounds of Mt. Chestnut Nazarene Center, please call the office of the Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene at 724-287-5867 or email us at
