FAMILY CAMP 2011

The following poem was written anonymously and left on the bulletin board in the tabernacle during the 2009 Family Camp:

     Memories of Mt. Chestnut Camp

On these grounds, I first heard His voice
speak to me and call me to Himself
And I was sanctified.
(In the Grove)

On these grounds, I first knew the difference
He makes in my soul
And I knew His peace.
(In Dorm 2)

On these grounds, I first received a scripture
promise from God
And His Word was personally relevant.
(In the Shower House)

On these grounds, I first learned to trust Him
with personal concerns
And realized Jesus was--is--the answer.
(On the road by the dorms)

On these grounds, I first learned to respond to
the enemy with thanksgiving to God
And knew the faithfulness of His forgiveness.
(Under the green tent)

On these grounds, I first ventured out of my
safe little box
And discovered His adventure.
(Walking the east entrance road)

On these grounds, I first chose to serve God
without emotional motivation
And began to learn that love is a choice.
(In the pavilion)

Join us at the Mt. Chestnut Nazarene Retreat and Conference Center for the 2011 Family Camp on July 24-July 31. The Center is located at 177 North Road, Butler, PA (Mt. Chestnut Village, US 422, near Morraine State Park and Lake Arthur).

Family Camp is a week-long event with guest preachers, special music, and age-appropriate services and activities for teens and children each morning and evening. In the afternoons, spend time with your family by relaxing in the Grove, playing basketball in the gym, taking on some friends at the paintball field (fee charged), swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. In addition, there are many area attractions such as golf, Lake Arthur, Morraine State Park, and Living Treasures Zoo.

Come for a day or come for the entire time. A variety of lodging is available, including motel-like dorm rooms to RV lots. Reservations are usually taken after January 1, but please call the Pittsburgh District Office (724-287-5867) for details. FOOD....Food is important! And you can eat to your heart's content at the Dining Hall Buffet (all meals).

For 2011, our guest preachers are Dan Bohi (Sunday through Wednesday) and Rev. Jeremiah Bolich (Thursday through Sunday). Our special music will be by Marcus Whitworth. Our Bible Teacher will be Prof. Mary Lou Shea, religion professor at Eastern Nazarene College.
